Angela Sausser Angela Sausser

After earning dual master’s degrees in social work administration and in public policy and management from Ohio State University, Angela has focused her career on health and human services issues that impact vulnerable populations, especially children. Angela has extensive leadership experience which includes overseeing a local non-profit organization focused on reducing infant mortality for ten years and now leading a statewide organization that advocates for sound public policies, promotes best practices, and builds public value for Ohio’s child welfare system. In addition, Angela has state experience as she held a governor-appointed position that oversaw the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet for nine years under three administrations and served as a bureau chief for the office of children and families for the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

Angela enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community. She currently serves as Secretary for the John Glenn College of Public Affairs Alumni Society Board and is a member of their Leadership Forum Planning Committee. She also serves on Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Research Institute’s ASPIRES Community Advisory Board focused on reducing suicide among adolescents in Central Ohio.

Angela has lived in Clintonville’s District 4 since 2011. A native from Findlay in northwest Ohio, Angela has lived in several suburbs after moving to Columbus in 1996 from Cincinnati where she held her first job upon graduating from Miami University. While she enjoyed several of those suburbs, Clintonville has felt most like home to her and her long-time partner who she often refers to as her husband, Tony and their dog, Sgt. Pepper. Angela is an avid gardener, loves walking the Olentangy Trail, enjoys cooking, practicing yoga, and spending time on their front porch with neighbors.

Angela is interested in developing viable solutions that would improve parking challenges that arise during the Farmers’ Market and to represent the needs and interests of District 4 with any future city development plans. There is also interest in her district in bringing fireworks back to Clintonville which she is committed to exploring.
