Judy Minister Candidate Statement District 4
I enjoyed serving my neighbors as a first term CAC commissioner for District 4. I’ve learned a great deal about our evolving business district and the city of Columbus’s processes for reviewing building and zoning requests. This may sound surprising, being a real estate broker and business owner since 1995, but there is truly always more to learn.
Things that have been accomplished in the last 3 years.
- I established the first CAC Facebook page, enlisted help in restoring and maintaining the Clintonvilleareacommission.org web site and created a new committee for Technology & PR.
- As chair of the Technology & PR committee we initiated welcome letters and community resource lists for commissioners to provide and engage new area homeowners (9/17). We created at steady stream of posts to remind neighbors that CAC meetings and events are public meetings and have encouraged attendance.
- One of our prime areas of neighborhood congestion (Starbucks & High) has been somewhat improved by the addition of the no stopping area on the north side of Torrence Rd.
- Working on the neighborhood plan review committee we created screening documents for new commercial and residential development to bring focus to the goals of the Clintonville Neighborhood Plan.
- Served as the CAC member representative on the Zoning and Variance committee
The future will bring new development, hopefully more restoration and re-use of vintage Clintonville buildings. Where new construction is planned we hope for it to be thoughtfully designed and in harmony with the neighborhood.
Looking at the history of representation in district 4 there seems to be a chain of one term commissioners, I hope that by serving two terms we can all benefit from some continuity and experience.
Thank you!
